Learning modules taught cover the following topics:

Sewing terminology, Fabric Grains, Patterns for Skirts, Shirts, Jackets and Trousers, Sewing by Hand and How to Operate an Industrial Sewing Machine. Students will know how to sew and create darts, seams, waistbands, fly pieces, neckline plackets, collars, cuffs and sleeves for skirts, shirts and trousers and all about different cutting and sewing machines techniques.

More advanced modules will teach creating patterns for and designing a Day Dress and an Evening Dress as well as different and more advanced technique styles of Skirts, Shirts and Trousers. 

After each module, students graduate after taking the standard Ethiopian Certificate of Competency “Occupational Standard Fashion Design and Dress Making Certificate” and upon completion of all modules students graduate with a Diploma.

Arakele Tuition Fees - Cost Breakdown

Students undertaking Arakele courses need at least 8th grade certificates for short term courses and preferably 10th grade for students who take level one courses and above.

Short Term 4 months: 2500 etb per month

Levels One – Four: 6 months each

2000 etb pm (level I) 1800 etb pm (level II) 1900 etb pm (level III) 2200 etb pm (level IV)

Additional Material costs (includes registration fee, sewing materials, uniform, id card and graduation costs)

Classes are Mondays - Fridays

Students Choice of Mornings: 8.30-12.30 Afternoons: 2.00-5.30 or Evenings: 6.00-8.00

After completion of each Course students are awarded Certificates upon passing the COC (Certificate of Competency) exam.

Diplomas are awarded to students who complete Levels One – Four and pass each level COC exam
